Although there is abundant literature referring to rather specific functions and responses to PFC stimuli, more research should be developed to further scrutinize ongoing findings. Understanding the development of the PFC and particularly the disorders associated with this area of the brain has important societal significance. It appears that there is a pattern to disorders associated to the frontal lobes which could explain the development of several illnesses. | Title: Family Communication Patterns And Health-Related Decisions Among Families In Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State Author: Julius Nsirim Akani & Dr Isioma Christiana Nkenchor Abstract: This study examines how family communication patte This study examines how family communication patterns influence health related decisions among family members. Four research objectives and four corresponding research questions guided the study. The study was anchored on the family communication patterns theory (FCPT). It employed a survey research design, utilizing structured questionnaire to ascertain how family communication patterns influence health related decisions among family members. A sample size of 384 was adopted using Krejcie and Mogan sampling template while multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 384 youth aged 18-35 respondents from a population of 319,479 residents of Ikwerre LGA (Geometric population projection formula with a 2.3% growth rate). Face and content validity method was adopted to validate the instrument while test-retest method was used to ascertain its reliability and a reliability index of 0.89 was realised. Findings revealed amongst others that Consensual and protective communication patterns are the prevalent family communication patterns among family members and that these patterns positively influence collective health behaviours among family members. Based on the findings, the study concluded that by prioritizing family communication, we can promote better health outcomes, reduce healthcare disparities, and enhance the overall quality of life for families. It recommended amongst others that therapists and counsellors in the health sector incorporate family communication education in their practices because understanding the communication patterns that contribute to family satisfaction can inform therapeutic interventions aimed at fostering openness and supportiveness within families to improve overall satisfaction and well-being. Makassar Branch Office is very attentive toward its employee’s individual characteristic with indicator locus of control and authoritarianism in several activities. The same goes for organizational culture variable with dominant indicator of individual initiative, by developing 5 (five) basic values which become the core of firm cultural development, that are 1) Professionalism, 2) Respect Others, 3) Integrity, 4) Dedicated to Customer, and 5) Excellence which abbreviated as PRIDE which means being proud or having pride. Study unit of this paper is employees in PT Bank Bukopin Tbk Makassar Branch Office with population 280 employees. Respondent as sample in this study is 74 employees. Sample determination was using purposive sampling technique. Analysis method used to test hypotheses was variance-based Structural Equation Model (SEM) with Partial Least Square (PLS3) program. Result of this study revealed that there is effect of individual characteristic, organizational culture toward organization commitment. This study’s result also showed that there is direct and indirect effect of individual characteristic and organizational culture toward employee’s performance enhancement, which is mediated by organization commitment. | Title: The Impact Of Lighting Design In Horror Films: An Analysis Of The Conjuring Author: Agha Patrick & Ayanwu, Remigius Anayochi Abstract: Lighting plays a crucial role in cinematic storyte Lighting plays a crucial role in cinematic storytelling, particularly in horror genre; it has the ability to shape mood, direct audience perception, and heightens psychological tension. However, most Nollywood productions underutilize the abilities of lighting design, often reducing it to a tool for mere visibility. This study examines how lighting is used to shape mood and direct audience perception in The Conjuring, as directed by James Wan, with a focus on key techniques utilized to enhance the ambience and atmosphere of the world of the film. The study adopts a qualitative research approach, employing content and visual analysis of selected scenes from the film. Drawing on Formalist Film Theory and Psychoanalytic Film Theory, the study analyzes how lighting techniques function within the film’s visual structure and influence audience interpretation and emotional response. Findings reveal that lighting in The Conjuring extends beyond basic illumination to serve as a vital narrative and psychological device. The study concludes that effective lighting design is fundamental to horror filmmaking, as it significantly enhances atmosphere, narrative meaning, and audience engagement. The study therefore recommends that filmmakers, particularly low-budget productions, prioritize intentional lighting design and integrate it as a core element of storytelling to achieve stronger emotional and psychological impact. | Title: Examining The Variations Between Monophthongs In Bangla And English Author: Yunif Dharif Abstract: Linguistics is the scientific study of a language, Linguistics is the scientific study of a language, more precisely human language because it is the mankind who only uses language meaningfully. Linguistics has different fields. Phonetics is one of the fields where speech sound is analysed generally along with the sound production, transmission and reception. Again, phonology is the field where different sound systems of a language are analysed through scientific method. This paper deals with the phonology field where two languages, English and Bangla, are discussed. Every language has its own phonemes where each of them carries unique characteristics and these make them different from one another. Contrastive phonology is the field where different phonemes of a language are put side by side and studies different features of each phoneme. These are again analysed with phonemes of other language. Moreover, this is done to compare and contrast the sound systems, especially the pure vowels of two or more languages. Also, it has detailed scientific explanations of the reasons that people find it easier to learn Bangla Pure Vowel than that of English Pure Vowel. Finally, this paper is written to explore the fact that English phonemics is easier than Bangla phonemics (concerned with pure vowels). | Title: Mauritian Domestic Violences Causes Author: Paul Omajuit Abstract: The Convention of the Elimination of Discriminatio The Convention of the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women and other international conferences on women have paved the way for providing for women rights as human rights thereby advancing the advocacy against domestic violence. However, the main explanation put forward to account for violence against women by feminist has been seriously challenged by family conflict researchers and some feminist researchers in the 1990’s. Women also perpetrate violence and the feminist paradigm by focusing exclusively on male violence has ignored female violence. The analysis of violence whereby women can be both a victim and a perpetrator has led to the emergence of the concept of intimate partner violence and several typologies have been constructed to analyze the dynamics of violence between intimate partners. These typologies allow researchers to fine tune their data collection tools, to develop more realistic theories, and design more effective intervention strategies. Ballantyne Abstract: This paper examines the relationship between viole This paper examines the relationship between violence against women (VAW) and sustainable development in Okobo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, between 2015 and 2025. It investigates the nature and prevalence of violence against women, its implications for sustainable development, and the effectiveness of existing institutional and legal responses. The study is anchored on Feminist Theory, which explains violence against women as a manifestation of unequal gender relations and patriarchal structures within society. Data for the study were collected through secondary sources, including government reports, journal articles, books, policy documents, reports of non-governmental organizations, and publications from international development agencies. The data were analyzed qualitatively using content analysis. Findings reveal that violence against women remains widespread in Okobo LGA despite the existence of legal and institutional interventions. The study found that domestic violence, sexual violence, economic deprivation, harmful traditional practices, and psychological abuse continue to undermine womens participation in economic, social, and political development. The findings further show that weak law enforcement, entrenched patriarchal norms, limited access to justice, and womens economic dependence contribute significantly to the persistence of violence. The study concludes that sustainable development in Okobo LGA cannot be achieved without addressing the structural causes of violence against women. The study recommends strengthening the enforcement of gender-based violence laws, expanding womens access to economic resources and land ownership, promoting gender-sensitive education and community awareness programmes, and enhancing research and monitoring mechanisms to support evidence-based interventions. | Title: Translating From English Into French: Challenges Faced By The Foreign Language Translator Author: Odungweru, Ure Scholarstica Abstract: La traduction de langlais vers le français consti La traduction de langlais vers le français constitue une activité intellectuelle dune complexité souvent sous-estimée. Malgré la proximité historique et structurelle de ces deux langues, leurs architectures grammaticales, leurs répertoires idiomatiques et leurs conventions rhétoriques divergent de manière significative, rendant tout transfert direct insuffisant et exigeant une intervention procédurale systématique de la part du traducteur. Cet article examine les principales catégories de difficultés auxquelles se heurte le traducteur en langue étrangère travaillant de langlais vers le français, à savoir lasymétrie structurelle, linterférence de la langue source, la non-équivalence lexicale et idiomatique, ainsi que les contraintes imposées par le registre journalistique à caractère politique. Les exemples analytiques sont tirés dune traduction en français du reportage politique "Hong Kong: Les parlers durs de Beijing," réalisée dans le cadre dun mémoire de master en traductologie. Larticle soutient que la fidélité en traduction entre ces deux langues ne peut sobtenir par la seule proximité linguistique, mais exige du traducteur une conscience procédurale constante et rigoureuse à tous les niveaux du texte.
