Title: Key factors to the Industrialization in Himachal Pradesh Author: Antonio P. G. Yappa Abstract: ... Industrialisation is a comparatively recent phenomenon in Himachal Pradesh. It gained momentum during the last two decades. Monetary and fiscal benefits as incentives and subsidies to industry, provided by the state as well as the central government, and the availability of quality infrastructure with basic amenities, have played a key role in the industrial development of the state. Industries in Himachal Pradesh, are now producing from traditional to a wide spectrum of high –tech products like computer monitors, magnetic components, high quality precision components, tele-communication equipments, electronics, drugs and pharmaceutical Is, processed food, textiles, and spinning products. The contribution of the industrial and manufacturing sector has increased significantly. In this backdrop, present paper, is an attempt to analyse the availability of infrastructural facilities apart from knowing the reason(s) for setting up industrial units in Himachal Pradesh. The paper is divided into two sections: section I deals with perception of the Industrial Promotional Agencies in the development of industries in Himachal Pradesh and section II deals with critical evaluation of the role of Industrial Promotional Agencies in promoting industrial industrialisation in Himachal Pradesh with the help of factor analysis. The Government has launched various policies and programmes for the promotion and development of industrial activities in the state. In order to execute these policies and programmes, various agencies such as: Directorate of Industries, District Industry Center, Small Industries Service Institute, Small Industries Development Bank Of India, State Finance Corporation etc. has been established. The concept of empowerment of women aims at rectifying such misperceptions and gene rate an environment where women will have the psychological potency to overcome the discrimination’s simultaneously it is directed to transform the prejudiced norms guiding the society. The psychological domain is strengthened by physical capabilities and empowerment includes social, economic, legal and political dimensions. The present study makes an attempt to find out the variation of growth and performance of the women empowerment programmes and major activities of women empowerment in India. The data reference period was 2002-03 to 2007-08. The study clearly establishes that access to micro finance, secure full employment; improved housing with access to water and sanitation; preventive and low cost curative health care at the doorstep can empower the large weaker sections of a society and in turn improve the health of all community members. These emerge as the best determinants of health from the SEWA study while capacity building, partnership, networking and self-reliance remain the primary instruments of change. Title: Analyzing the Environmental Sustainability, Energy Use and Economic Growth of Toyohashi City Author: Damid Gassan & Nituya Nujig Abstract: ... Manufacturing and trading concentration, elevated economic activities and rise in urban population are the driving forces of city growths in the central part of Japan. Toyohashi city, locating between Tokyo and Nagoya, Osaka, is facing rapid growth for its industrial and port related economic concentration. As a result, use of natural resources and energy in the city is increasing. Recent trends show that to ensure economic growth, the City level energy use increased significantly. On the other hand, after the great disaster of 2011, Japan is concentrating more on natural resources to produce energy. The outcome would end in a higher use of natural resources like fossil fuels and natural gas. Finding an optimum solution to address energy-economy interactions is, therefore, becoming complex and difficult. Under the circumstances, this paper attempts to study the growth of Toyohashi city over time and resultant increase in consumption level of electricity and gas. Another objective of the paper is to find features of effect of technological yield in use of energy. The results of the study show that manufacturing and trading sector of the economy are causing expansionary pressure on use of combustion energy. The study also finds that contribution of technology to reduce use of energy in production side of the economy yet a dormant factor. Hence, introduction of technology to ensure improved and efficient use of energy has been recommended by the findings of the paper. The limitation of the study can be described as the limitation in research sample and data influence on the results coming out from market orientation. Title: An Experimental Loom to Deposit Draft of Tamilnadu Commercial Banks Author: Deskeshan H. (Ph.D) Abstract: ... Deposit mobilization is an integral part of banking activity. Mobilization of savings through intensive deposit collection has been regarded as the major task of banking in India today. Acceptance of deposits is the primary function of commercial banks. As such, deposit mobilization is one of the basic innovations in current Indian banking activity. Hence, in this paper, an attempt is made to empirically evaluate the trend and growth in deposit mobilization of scheduled commercial banks in Tamil Nadu during the period from 1999-2000 to 2008-2009. Three different types of deposits, namely current deposit, savings deposit and term deposit is considered for the study. The total number of deposits accounts and total amount of deposits mobilized during the years from 1999-2000 to 2008-2009 in all scheduled commercial banks in Tamil Nadu is gathered from RBI bulletin. The collected time series data are subjected descriptive statistics. The Compound Growth Rate (CGR) and Linear Growth Rate (LGR) are calculated using simple regression analysis. From the results of the analysis, it is found that there has been a remarkable growth in mobilization of all kinds of deposits in scheduled commercial banks in Tamil Nadu on the whole. This article throws light on the usage pattern and the reasons behind low sensitivity of packaged dairy products. This paragraph obtains information concerning consumers preferences and knowledge of processing organic/dairy products. It also identifies those consumers who are most likely to get processed organic/dairy products. The objectives of this study were to examine the usage pattern, user preferences, and scopes for products change, with respect to the packaged (and branded) dairy products in the town; Bettiah, West Champaran, Bihar. The researcher has used a descriptive research study using a structured questionnaire for collecting the necessary details for research analysis. Descriptive frequencies analysis used to determine the user or household characteristics that affect the purchase order related to packaged dairy products. The study also showed that, the family size and families with higher earnings were more concerned with quality of packaged dairy product. Further, this study also revealed that, majority of the population living in rural areas still uses the unprocessed, unbranded local dairy products only, which are neither healthy nor enriched with nutrients. AIOU has significant role in the training of skilled human resources to mange economy, to facilitate generation specially females, advancement of knowledge in all fields and to minimise unemployment rate. It’s approach is best suited to reach the rural and far-flung areas of Pakistan. Purposes of the study were: (i)to identify the challenges of human resource management(ii) (ii) to highlight the role of AIOU in addressing the challenges for national development(iii) to suggest the measures for the development of human resources. A sample of 23 faculty members was taken conveniently. A questionnaire was used as a research tool for the collection of data. Collected data were analyzed through SPSS XIV by running frequencies, mean score. Main findings of the study revealed that AIOU finds positive ways to cope with sustainability challenges as it meets the needs of his clients .AIOU is the best for learning with earning, hence it has made a revolution in Pakistani economy. India is the fourth largest producer of natural rubber with a share of eight per cent in the world after Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Kerala accounts for 78 percent of the area under rubber in the country. The rubber plantation sector in India is dominated by small holdings which account for 92% of the production and 89% of the area of rubber in the country. In spite of this major contribution the small rubber growers are vulnerable to exploitations by dominant groups like traders, manufacturers, politicians etc. Small rubber farmers in the country are considered one of the biggest and impoverished sectors. They are basically exploited due to lack of information and training to interpret movements of trade in the market, lack of capital and postharvest facility logistics to increase their output and undertake value-adding activities to augment and improve their economic livelihood. Rubber Board took vigorous steps from early 1960 to encourage them to organize under dedicated rubber marketing co-operatives societies. These Cooperatives confront many distinct economic challenges that underline their need for coordinated planning and opportunities. This study examines the relationship between macroeconomic determinants and stock market returns in Nigeria using annual data from 1980-2016. The study engaged variables like stock market prices, exchange rate, inflation rate, money supply and. Unit Root test for stationarity, for, Co-integration test for long-run confirmation and ECM test to determine the speed of adjustment from the short to its long run were carried out alongside a trend analysis of the data in the model. Additionally, post diagnostic test were carried out to guesstimate the stability of the variables. The results shows that variables are integrated of order 1(1) and established a long-run link among the variables. The ECM value of -0.740618 or 74 per cent is able to correct, adjust and tie the short-run dynamics with the long run equilibrium. The study concludes that macroeconomic indices are cable of influencing stock market returns and recommends stability of the macroeconomic variables over time in Nigeria.
