Title: The Performances in Electrochemistry Final Examination (EFE) for some Form 4 students from three schools at LMS, Perak Author: Rafata P. M. (Ph.D) & Hafiu K. Abstract: ... This paper will discuss about the performances in Electrochemistry Final Examination (EFE) for some Form 4 students from three schools at LMS, Perak. The students first were sitting for pre-tests- Motivational Level (ML), Puzzle Cards (PC), Logical Thinking (LT), Scientific Reasoning Skills (SRS), and Electrochemistry Final Exam (EFE). Three manuals were used- Illustrations (I), Explanation using Sentences (EuSM), and Ministry of Education Chemistry Textbooks (T). After the treatments using these manuals, students were sitting for post-tests- ML, -PC, - LT, -SRS, and -EFE. The data were then analyzed with One-Way ANOVA Test (Repeated) using IBM SPSS Statistics Software 21.0 to determine whether there will be improvements in the post-tests after using these manuals. Title: Using Probability Analysis in Investigating Moroccan EFL High School Teachers’ Perceptions of the Teaching/Learning Process of Speaking Skills Author: Ratal Yaha Abstract: ... This article examines responses obtained from teachers’ questionnaires to test and answer this research question “What are Moroccan EFL high school teachers’ perceptions of the teaching/learning process of speaking skills?” Two quantitative frequencies investigating both the rate of teaching speaking and the position it holds among the other skills shall be used. On the one hand, tables used include a summary to the Chi square results obtained on teachers’ perceptions of the frequency of teaching speaking in Moroccan secondary school EFL classes. On the other hand, the second part is an attempt to determine the position of speaking in comparison to the other skills. More results pertaining to teachers’ perceptions will be highlighted with the content analysis of the interviews done with teachers. Title: The Connection between Linguistic Errors and Anxiety in Language Author: Jeremiah Thege & Kimberly Juduma Abstract: ... Ability to use language appropriately makes communication effective and meaningful. However, anxiety can impact classroom communication negatively. This paper aims to contribute to the research on language anxiety (LA) by investigating the extent to which the trait contributes to linguistic errors during class presentations by students learning English as a second language. Students at secondary school are likely to experience some degree of anxiety during language lessons. The current research explores the LA levels during class presentations and also interrogates the relationship between anxiety and the frequency of linguistic errors. The data on language anxiety levels was obtained through the participants filling a questionnaire adapted from the foreign language anxiety scale (FLAS). A voice recorder was used to record the class presentations from which linguistic errors that the learners’ made were isolated. Descriptive statistics and content analysis were used to analyze the data. The results indicate a weak negative correlation between the level of language anxiety and frequency of errors in the class presentations. Title: Economic Empowerment of Small and Medium Scale Businesses in Trenggalek District Author: Umogi Hanjus (Ph.D) Abstract: ... Along with the policies in the local government system, where the tasks and responsibilities of the government are given more burden to the local government, the local government of Trenggalek in 2013 stipulates Regulation No. 72 of 2013 on General Guidelines Trengginas (Trenggalek District Economic Program), in efforts to spur the economic growth of the community based on micro, small and medium enterprises that developed in the community environment Trenggalek District. The purpose of this research is to describe and analyze the economic empowerment of community effort of Trenggalek Regency, so it can be found the most relevant model in the development of community economic business of Trenggalek District. The method used in this research is qualitative research method using stages of research as the theory proposed by Hubermas (1988), which starts from the data collection, reduction and the last data analysis to describe the results of research obtained by researchers. The result of the research shows that the economic empowerment program of Trenggalek peoples economy is more emphasized on the economic effort of the people whose raw material is mainly found in the environment of Trenggalek Regency, namely the processing of Casava, the raw material comes from cassava, the production of tile production from the soil clay located in the region of Trenggalek District. These efforts are mostly done by the people of Trenggalek district, which is generally done by small-scale production (home industry) that develops in the community of Trenggalek District, with skills that are passed on through family business. Title: Hitches among R?aka Indigenous Community in Ag?k?y? and Ethnic Groups Migrant Author: Prof. M. R. Yageye & Victory Ghunde Abstract: ... The study investigated problems between migrant ethnic groups and the indigenous Agĩkũyũin Rũaka, Kĩambu County. After the construction of the Northern bypass, Rũaka opened up and this saw a number of investors coming into the area in large numbers to invest and some to settle. Migrants on the other hand, moved into Rũaka in a big way for reasons such as proximity to the City of Nairobi, family reunion and more viable commercialization. Having come from various socio-religio-cultural and economic backgrounds, the residents’ way of life was changed through their interactions with the migrants thereby giving rise to both positive and unpleasant challenges hence the main objective of the study: to investigate the arising problems between the host community and the migrants in Rũaka. A case study research design was employed and data was collected through documented sources, questionnaires and interviews. Similarly, Leonardo Boff’s and Clodovis Boff’s theory of mediation and Kasemann’s et al redaction criticism theory were used to help unearth the issues faced by the merged communities and to guide the study to give a liberating way forward. Some of the key problems identified by the study include environmental concern, insecurity, ethnicism, and intensive sexual immoralities, among others that the study has exposed and discussed. Among the recommendations is that the Church should insert herself more seriously within the diversified residents of Rũaka, in her capacity as the community of communities, in order to establish the root cause of the disturbing factors and act upon the findings in view of evangelizing fruitfully. A review on direct vocabulary instruction of past studies has contributed pertinent knowledge which has led to the formulation of a new theoretical perspective and the introduction of the contextualized Word Family (CWF) Model. This proposed model offers a rich, systematic, structured and principled strategy of vocabulary acquisition. It is developed based on pertinent steps, models and principles of effective direct vocabulary instruction as revealed in literature of past studies. This model employs word families which are vital prerequisites for learners to function effectively in all the language skills. Besides, tier two or high frequency words are used to form the word families in this present model. It also integrates a contextualized approach and a word family to explicitly teach vocabulary to second language learners to boost their vocabulary acquisition and writing skills. Title: Civil Society Organisations and Partnership with the National Youth Service Corps: A Study of their Impact on Election Monitoring in Nigeria Author: Brig. Gen. (Assoc. The Nigerian National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was a post-civil war program of the Federal Military Government aimed at fostering long-term reconciliation, restoration, recovery, and national integration following the Nigerian Civil Wars horrific human and socioeconomic calamities (1967-1970). Following the 1967 war, the socio-cultural and political links that bound Nigerias various ethnic groups were deeply strained, with gloomy signs of permanent disintegration. The Federal Government of Nigeria, led by General Yakubu Gowon, the countrys then-military head of state, argued, correctly, that an institution was needed to help diffuse the enmities and animosity that the civil war had generated and consolidated. As a result, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was established in 1973 to assist in the mobilization of young Nigerian graduates for a mandatory one-year national service. After three decades of operation, the NYSC has recognized the need to collaborate with other civil society organizations in order to supplement the efforts of Nigerias autonomous national electoral commission in conducting elections. This resulted in the signing of its first Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the INEC in 2010 and its subsequent participation in Nigerian elections. As a result, the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the NYSC and civil society organizations in Nigerian election monitoring. The paper adopts descriptive and analytic framework. Despite the numerous obstacles that threaten a long-term relationship between the NYSC and civil society organizations in election monitoring, the paper claims that a significant amount of progress has been made in deepening democratic consolidation by election monitoring. The purpose of this research is to analyze the physical healthy boundaries for Notary As well as regarding the validity of the deed made by the Notary who is not physically fit. This research uses the type of normative legal research with the statutory approach (Statute approach) and the conceptual approach (Conceptual Approach). The results of this study is concluded that the limits on physical health required by the Law -The Notary Public Office is physically and spiritually healthy as stated by the doctors certificate, so that in carrying out his position if there is a Notary who suffered physical disability, the healthy restriction in determining a Notary can continue his position shall be supervised by the Assembly of Supervisor Notaries. Regarding the physical boundaries for the Notary who suffer physical disability at the time of course affect the authenticity of the authentic deed he made, then regarding the validity of the deed as long as it is made in accordance with the provisions of Article 38 UUJN, the authentic deed may be considered valid. Regarding of the physical health restrictions contained in the law of office of a notary should be described in more detail in the law, so the candidates of the notaries will be better prepared to be a professional notary. Title: The Strategies of Government in Controlling Waste in Manado City Trade and Reservation Center Author: Kuri Hajofo Abstract: ... The strategy of urban development is very important to be defined in the policy. Some areas in Manado city at certain time are not clean from garbage. Wenang village which is the center of trade and services contributes the most waste even though the population is not too much. Sario Sub-district has a large population but produces little waste. It is necessary to learn how the waste management at the center of trade/services that densely populated so that hygiene can be overcome. The research methodology used is descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected by observation, direct interview with 3 informants for each Kelurahan (village) taken by purposive sampling. Data was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the waste management system and its management, cleaners and garbage vehicles cannot be optimized because the pile of waste is too much so that waste management must be different, that is by increasing the number of fleets from 1 vehicle to 2 or 3. Waste management on the road protocol is done by officers at 06.00am to 06.00pm. Garbage taken from the community is loaded into cart or waste motor taken to TPS. From TPS garbage was transported by garbage vehicle then taken to the landfill at 06.00pm s / d 06.00am. This research can be concluded that waste management in Central Trade Area/Service and Residential Area in Manado City is not as expected.
