The book by Homayoun Farrokh is in 1142 pages. The research method in this study was based on descriptive and library and note taking method. The traditional grammar changes were studied and its ability to provide a scientific inclusive, comprehensive and economic theory was analyzes. The findings in this article can be used to provide a scientific, inclusive and comprehensive grammar book in which can lead to simpler and less voluminous books which are user-friendly and can reach grammar with more simplicity and in shorter period of time. Title: Socio-cultural Factors and Organizational Performance in Nigerian Brewery Industry Author: Onikoyi, Idris Adegboyega (Ph.D) Abstract: ... The specific purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which culture determines organizational performance, to know how government activities affect the performance of Nigeria Brewery, and to examine influences on age, gender, marital status, work experience and educational qualification on organizational performance. The study adopted a survey research design, random sampling technique was used which allowed the respondents an equal chance of being selected. The population of the study consists of customers of International Brewery Plc in Ilesa, Osun state, comprising of; male and female, young and adult which was undefined. The result shows that government policy did not affect the organizational performance and also the organizational performance did not influence government policy. However, the results further showed that demographic information affects the organizational performance. Conclusively, both descriptive and quantitative analyses were used in capturing the general overview and specific impact of socio-cultural factors and organizational performance in International Brewery, Ilesa. Different ethnic groups of Bangladesh and their colorful lifestyles have significantly enriched the entire culture of Bangladesh. For centuries, Bangladesh has been the dwelling place of different ethnic groups. At least 350 million people worldwide are considered to be indigenous and in Bangladesh about two million indigenous people of 45 different distinct communities are living throughout the country (Hossain,2003). These people with distinctive social and cultural practices, languages and customs are commonly known as Adivasis by themselves. Among them Khasis are one of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable Adivasi community living in Sylhet and Moulvibazar districts. They have been characterized by the dominant groups as distinctive with their comparatively more isolated habitation in the hilly and forest areas and their distinct socio-economic and cultural lives (Munda, 2002). The Khasi Mongolite ethnic group. The Khasias descended to the Khasia hills and Jaintia hills from Cherapunji and Shilong regions. They migrated to Bangladesh from Assam where they came about five hundred years ago, presumably from Tibet, and now form one of the major matriarchal tribes in Bangladesh. Khasias are short people with flat noses and mouths, high jaws, and small and straightened black eyes. This matrilineal ethnic group resides mainly in 11Upazilas of the greater Sylhet District in the Northeastern region of Bangladesh. According to the government census of 1991, the Khasi population in Bangladesh is 12,280. Their livelihood pattern and their culture are different from the mainstream population. Khasia peoples play a great role in our socio economic condition. They are part and parcel of our tradition. They have to face a number of problems in their daily life. Title: Concept of Marriage to Charlotte and the Conditions of Women in Her Society drawing Insights from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice Author: Dalra Heque Abstract: ... Jane Austen’s novel Pride and Prejudice has several minor characters which are realistically portrayed. Charlotte Lucas is one of them. She is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lucas and is portrayed as a victim of her society. The dominant theme of this novel is marriage and is the only hope for her as she is a realist. She has plain appearance and is not in a position to disregard social conventions. Hence, she has practical good sense and a practical view of matrimony. Her marriage with Mr. Collins is not self-deception as she marries with her eyes open. For this reason, she does not consider her marriage a mistake though it is loveless. She is a fictitious character, but we should remember that Austen’s characters are from real life. Charlotte’s marriage is symbolic showing the financial insecurity of marriageable girls in her times. Therefore, her inability to disregard the existing social code needs to be judged from the viewpoint of 18th century England. However, we cannot overlook her as a character who has admirable qualities. She draws mixed reactions. Some find her a moral failure and some appreciate her decision to marry Mr. Collins for financial security. Through her character, the agonies of unmarried women, their yearning for marital safety are exhibited in this novel. This paper focuses on the grounds for Charlotte’s decision to marry Mr. Collins, the conditions of women of her society and her likeable qualities which save her marriage and individualize her. Title: Health Benefits of Halal Dietary System Author: Yassir Mahgoub (Ph.D) Abstract: ... The global interest in halal diet is growing faster than ever. With the steady growth in the world Muslim population coupled with mass production of halal foods, this trend is expected to continue ad-infinitum. Many sources have declared Islam to be the fastest growing religion in the world. In 2008, the National Geographic published a report quoting a Vatican source that Islam has overtaken Catholicism to become the largest religion. With Muslims now at about 17.4 percent of the world population, it is understandable why the global quest for halal products continue to increase. Interestingly, it is noted recently that non- Muslim consumers have also started to show interest in halal products. Most of those consumers often mention health factors as the main reason behind their choice of halal foods. While most Muslims mainly choose the halal diet to comply with the dictates of their religion, they also consider the health factors as an associated benefit. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the halal dietary system and see whether it has any positive or negative effects on the health of the consumers. Title: Effects of Scaffolding Teaching Strategy on students’ Academic Achievement in Basic Science and Technology in Junior Secondary Schools in Rivers State, Nigeria Author: Samuel O. Wagbara (Ph.D) & Blessing A. Wagbar Abstract: ... High academic achievement of students in Basic Science and Technology is an indispensable index of effective teaching strategy. As foundational subjects, it becomes pertinent to use strategy that will enable students to move at their pace and enhance mastering of the content. Hence, the main purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of scaffolding teaching strategy on students’ academic achievement in Basic Science and Technology. This study was carried out in Rivers State West Educational Zone, Nigeria. The zone is made up of 8 Local Government Areas. The purposive technique was used to select Ahoada East Local Government Area. Simple random sampling by balloting was used to obtain 100 JSS 2 students from two public schools that participated in the study. The instrument used for the data collection was Basic Science and Technology Achievement Test (BAST). The data collected were analyzed by using mean and standard deviation to answer all the research questions, while Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. The study found that scaffolding teaching strategy had significant effect on students’ academic achievement in Basic Science and Technology, P < .05. The study also, found significant difference between the mean scores of those exposed to lecture method and that of scaffolding strategy, P < .05. Gender had significant effect on academic achievement of students exposed to scaffolding strategy, P < .05. Hence, teachers should use scaffolding strategy that is designed in activity oriented pattern, that enables students work on their pace to gain mastery of content. Title: The Effect of Gender Difference as a Motivation among Science Students Author: Ashat Dajid Abstract: ... Motivation is the internal state that arouses, directs, and sustains goal-oriented behavior. In particular, motivation to learn refers to the disposition of students to find academic activities relevant and worthwhile who try to derive the intended benefits from them. In studying the motivation to learn science, researchers examine why students strive to learn science, how intensively they strive, and what beliefs, feelings, and emotions characterize them in this process. Motivated learners are thus self regulated learners who attempt to monitor and control their own learning. Intrinsic motivation and personal relevance is major motivational component that appear to influence self-regulated learning. The purpose of the study is to investigate the gender differences into the status of intrinsic motivation and personal relevance towards science learning among intermediate science students. A sample of 600 intermediate science students from Punjab (Pakistan), in which 300 males and 300 females were serve as the sample of the study which were selected through two phase cluster sampling. The 30-item Science Motivation Questionnaire developed by Glynn and Koballa (2006) was used to measure intrinsic motivation and personal relevance scores towards science. The scores were calculated and summarized through mean and standard deviation. The significance of difference between mean scores of male and female intermediate students was measured by t-test (two-tailed). The result revealed that male and female science students did not differ in science motivation, however female science students were found somewhat better in their motivation towards science than males. The Nigerian nation of today is bedevilled by a myriad of problems. Perhaps, top on the list is that of leadership. By omission or commission, it has led to suspicions and apparent disloyalty to the Nigerian state by the followership which is expressed in various forms. To a large extent, the unity of the nation is being called to question especially in the search for a just, equitable and egalitarian society where no individual, group or section would be disadvantaged. This paper examines Jesus parable of the Lost Sheep in the Lucan Gospel from the tripartite prongs of characters, events and actions and brings to the fore crucial lessons that could be applied in the quest for responsive, responsible and efficient political leadership. It is recommended that prudent management of resources, accountability in all spheres and level of governance, inclusiveness, justice and fairness are germane in addressing incessant regional, economic and political agitations which impede national development.
