Title: Impact of Organizational Commitment on Organizational Culture: A Case Study of Indonesia Author: Peter Fausino Abstract: ... This study has the objectives to test and analyze the effect of individual characteristic and organizational culture toward organization commitment of employees at PT. Bank Bukopin Tbk. Makassar Branch Office, also to analyze the direct and indirect effect toward employee’s performance. PT. Bank Bukopin Tbk. Makassar Branch Office is very attentive toward its employee’s individual characteristic with indicator locus of control and authoritarianism in several activities. The same goes for organizational culture variable with dominant indicator of individual initiative, by developing 5 (five) basic values which become the core of firm cultural development, that are 1) Professionalism, 2) Respect Others, 3) Integrity, 4) Dedicated to Customer, and 5) Excellence which abbreviated as PRIDE which means being proud or having pride. Study unit of this paper is employees in PT Bank Bukopin Tbk Makassar Branch Office with population 280 employees. Respondent as sample in this study is 74 employees. Sample determination was using purposive sampling technique. Analysis method used to test hypotheses was variance-based Structural Equation Model (SEM) with Partial Least Square (PLS3) program. Result of this study revealed that there is effect of individual characteristic, organizational culture toward organization commitment. This study’s result also showed that there is direct and indirect effect of individual characteristic and organizational culture toward employee’s performance enhancement, which is mediated by organization commitment. Happiness, according to vocabulary.com is a sense of well-being, joy, or contentment. For the Aristotelians, another word for happiness is eudemonia which is an ethical theory with the view that the being of human existence and its activities is happiness. According to this theory, all actions of man whether good or bad aims towards happiness. For Aristotle, the being of man is structured for happiness. Yet irrespective of this yearning of the human spirit towards happiness, man still has gone astray! Man has wandered away from his real home to live in the dark of restlessness! Man has fallen from the throne! Man created to exist for only one purpose – happiness, has been blinded by the irrational part of his soul which is his appetite, hence, turning away from the rational part of his soul which is right reason. With this all his activities have no aim in mind, although have really kept man busy doing nothing from day to day, week to week and year to year. With this spirit of insatiability, man is harvesting the end products of restlessness, anarchy, greed, jealousy, comparison, competition, pain, stress, hatred, poverty, sickness and death. These steamed from the insatiable wants for pleasure, power and money, but only one thing is necessary which is Happiness (Eudemonia). An investigation of Wittgenstein’s game theory of language is the focus of the paper. The purpose of the study is to critique the limiting logic found in the theory. The method adopted for the study is content analysis. It has been shown in the course of the analysis that the new Wittgenstein is a deviation and an outright rejection of his earlier views in the Tractatus Logico–Philosophicus and those of the logical positivists. The new Wittgenstein, as shown in the Philosophical Investigations, is prone to accepting the multiplicity of the use of language as expressed in several language games. But the study identifies a limiting logic in the emphasis on strict adherence to rules in language games. Africans believe that the earth is dominated with spirits which are responsible to checkmate the activities of men in all spheres of life; hence activities which were not in consonance with the social norms were punished by the deities. However, in recent times so many hostile activities including the exploitation of petroleum products which has resulted in oil spillage leaving many poor and hungry due to the pollutions in waters and land thereby disrupting fishing and farming in the Niger Delta. The paper brings to the fore the fact that the hyper activities of man have overwhelmed the gods, thus making them look inactive. Using the conceptual framework of a ‘Besieged City’ as postulated by Ogbu Kalu (1980), the paper discovered that though the African perception of the world is that of a ‘precarious vision’ men are seen perpetuating and flagrantly unleashing havoc among themselves without being punished by the gods. The paper, therefore, recommends that mankind should beef up self-effort as the gods which are believed to be the watchmen in the African cultural milieu has gone on retreat and may never return.
