Title: Re-Examination of Paul Ricoeur’s Philosophical Methodology Author: Deric Selima Abstract: ... “The central question of this paper is linked to the possibility of a reinterpretation of Paul Ricoeur’s philosophy byway of critical hermeneutics. Certainly, this ‘critical’ determination marks a passage of secondary importance in his hermeneutical evolution, which progressed from the paradigm of an interpretation of symbols to the analysis of text, to narrative hermeneutics, thence to phenomenological hermeneutics of the self, and finally to the hermeneutics of translation and recognition. However, the point of this paper is to see whether the structure of such a critical hermeneutics may be generalized according to the intrinsic possibilities of Ricoeur’s hermeneutics as a unified speculative discourse and as a philosophical procedure. Hence, critical hermeneutics must be clarified in its methodology, in its epistemological structure and in reference to its field of application”.
