Number 2 Title: Evaluating the Physicochemical Parameters affecting the Effective Control of Turag River

Abstract: ... Rapid acceleration of urbanization and industrialization in Bangladesh has been coupled with increasing environmental degradation. The present study was carried out to investigate the air, water and sediment quality which are degraded due to pollution load at Turag River. Gastec technique (Japanese origin) is used to determine the CO, CO2, NOx and SO2 concentration and the concentration range for CO: 2425-7635 μg/m 3, 82-652 μg/m 3 for NOx, 151.93-553.56 μg/m 3 for PM10 and 395-510 μg/m 3 for CO2.Atomic absorption spectrophotometer technique is used for the determination of Cr, Pb, Zn, Cu and Cd because of their potential toxicity. As per US EPA sediment quality guideline, metal concentrations ranged between Cd: 0.10 - 0.90, Cr: 31.00 - 78.20, Cu: 48.10 - 69.00, Pb: 30.30 - 37.20, and Zn: 95.60 - 191.10 mg/kg in the Turag river sediments. Occurrence of both the air pollutants and sediment heavy metal shows significant difference at different station that is analyzed by using ANOVA (SPSS V.17) test. Major pollution sources are domestic sewage, industrial waste, commercial waste, agricultural waste, institutional waste, street sweepings, construction debris, mining activities and sanitation residues combustion of fuel, thermal, nuclear power plants, vehicular pollution and nuclear combustion etc. solid waste pollution, heavy metal pollution, organochlorine pesticides pollution and oil pollution are the main pollution that are highly responsible for environment degradation. Air temperature, Water temperature, pH, EC, Chloride, Turbidity, TS, TDS, DO, BOD5, and COD concentration in water samples were found to range from 26-36(°c), 29-34(°c), 7.5-7.9, 1850-1900(μScm-1), 32-42(mg/L), 13.5-14.4cm, 902-970(mg/L), 810-850(mg/L), 0-0(mg/L), 21-24(mg/L), 106-141(mg/L).Higher concentration of heavy metal is detrimental to human and aquatic animals for physical disorder. Fisher folk are suffering from various diseases like irritation and skin disease. Notwithstanding urbanization enhancing the individual family income and reform the social structure but traditional occupations like fishing are at the point of extinction. The composition of the gas produced and its heating value are reported. Based on the results the predominant chemical route and optimal gasification conditions were identified. Number 2 Title: Measures to Improve Fire Hazards Handling in Dhaka City

Abstract: ... Fire hazard incident is very much common phenomenon in Bangladesh especially at densely populated Dhaka city. Every year many people died due to the fire hazards. They lost their lives, wealth, properties and suffer from burn injury for a long time. Being the hub of all economic activities this city compels people to live here and construct High rise buildings, Semi-structured buildings and temporary shades in slums and squatters and also build Ready-made-Garments or Industries, Shopping Malls, Educational Institutions and Hospitals or Medical Centers. We find that in this City, these structures/buildings are closely spaced, in most cases the owners or authorities do not follow the building code, most of the dwellers and owners do not have better awareness and minimum fire management knowledge and practice. In most of the cases, they cannot understand the intensity and severity of devastating fire hazards and identifying the reasons and taking effective mitigation measures are not prevalence. Moreover, most of the areas of this city are unplanned, have many unplanned chemical factories in residential areas and utility service like electricity management, gas line are not properly set-up or manage and in most cases there is no fire management systems. Most of the fire hazards occurs causing electric short circuit in Dhaka City. Due to distance location of fire station, locked and narrow emergency exist points, panicky situation, no light or insufficient light in the areas of stairways, lack of constant supply of electricity, suffocation and unawareness are main reasons of ineffectiveness of mitigation measures. The broad objectives of this study were to explore the fire hazards risk and effectiveness of the mitigation measures in Dhaka City. For this study a semi-structural questionnaire interview was conducted to assess the understanding of people regarding fire hazards and actual initiatives of mitigation measures. We also observed and discussed about different evacuation plans, existing mitigation measures and identified particular victims locations. However, in most of the cases knowledge and mitigation measures relating to fire hazards are very much unknown to the dwellers of Dhaka city. We find that they are totally untrained and never have experienced to take part in fire drill. Though this condition is very common in entire Dhaka city but in slums and semi-structured buildings this scenario is worse. The recommendations include there is a need to have regular arrangement of drills, raising practical knowledge through education and training. Number 2 Title: An Improved Fuzzy-based System for Security and Privacy in Body Area Network (BANs) and Mobile Health Services

Abstract: ... Security and Privacy in Nigeria’s Health Sector is a vital and sensitive issue because it plays an important role in issues of diagnosis, security and privacy. Body Area Networks (BANs) is simply defined as network that is wireless in nature and involves wearable computing devices which are embedded in wearer’s body. In this study, we developed an Improved Fuzzy-based System for Security and Privacy in Body Area Networks (BANs) and Mobile Health Services using Structured Analysis and Design Technique (SADT) as Methodology. Furthermore, we implemented the Proposed System with Java Programming language and MySQL as backend. The obtained results from the study showed efficiency in access validation speed and data leakage detection. The evaluated parameters are 19 and 12 seconds respectively as compared with the Existing System with evaluated parameters of 37 and 45 seconds respectively, which further indicates that the Proposed System outperforms the Existing System in terms of Time Complexity. In other words, the study will be beneficial to Mobile Health Workers and Software Developers that require relevant information on the Security and Privacy in Body Area Networks (BANs) and Mobile Health Services. The goal of this research is to find the impact of Hasira oil production on the surrounding environment. the Hasira village is located in the Sarqala sub-distribution the area include a number of villages, the research focuses on the impact of the oil production on cultivation , graze land and wild life , and the main goal is to find out the impacts on the cultivation areas therefore we have created a list of questions to indicate the rate of impact of the oil production on the surrounding areas , after visiting the sites and collecting the questionnaire, we found that damage rate is much higher than to benefits. Because the local people of the areas, are occupied only as a normal employed and servant, this had made them quit. the life stock and agricultural products , and the oil industry has lead to local conflict between the local areas despite of damages have be made to the lands causing degradation of the graze land. Number 2 Title: Cowpea as a Functional source of Protein Food Ingredient

Abstract: ... Cowpea contains high enough proteins that amounted to 22.6% so potentially developed as a source of protein that can be applied as a functional food ingredient. This research studied the protein isolation techniques of Cowpea using fully functional modification of solvents and drying techniques. The first stage of the functional protein isolated from milk and flour of cowpea using solvents of ethanol and aquades. Results of the analysis of the yield and protein levels indicate that treatment of extraction using aquades from milk of cowpea is the best treatment to the value yield of 15,41% and protein levels of 76,41%. The second phase is conducted by using protein isolate extraction solvents ethanol and acetone with an ordinary oven dryer and vacuum oven. It is obtained results that purification with solvent acetone and drying using a vacuum oven is the best treatment with a yield of 16.64% and protein levels of 90,31%. In addition to the components of the protein, known to isolate proteins which are resulted from cowpea also containing components of water, fat, protein, carbohydrate and ash. Number 2 Title: Analyzing Fiproniland Metabolites Residues in Black Pepper

Abstract: ... Fipronil is a systemic insecticide having persistence in the plant system and is used for the management of the flea beetle, white flies, leaf hopper, green pepper bug and pepper tingid bug in black pepper. In field experiment, Regent 80WG at 45.0 g a.i ha-1– 90.0 g a.i ha-1 significantly suppressed the pest infestation. Pepper vine treated with Reagent 80WG produce more berries compared to control and showed no phytotoxicity. Hence, the optimum rate of Regent 80WG were fixed to 45.0 g a.i ha-1. For the residue analysis, satisfactory recoveries ranging between 92.1%-110.1% were obtained for the fortified pepper berries samples. Fipronil dominated as the parent compound and among the metabolites, the sulfone derivative was the most dominant followed by the sulfide, amide and desulfinyl, which were found below determination limit (0.01 mg kg−1). It can be concluded that the pre-harvest interval for Regent 80WG was on day 12 and the proposed MRL value was 0.20 mg/kg. Number 2 Title: Examining the Recurring Physio-Chemical Parameters of Ground and Surface Water in Kaam Area of Libya

Abstract: ... Water is a blessings of Allah and it is a very precious resources of this planet where is an established resources of life. Water is considered as one of the nutrients, although it yields no calories. Water in nature is not pure as it gets contaminated surroundings. Physical parameters like Electrical conductivity and TDS have more than the normal values. The high TDS is because of more salinity of water samples and close to the Mediterranean Sea. Chemical parameter like Calcium is in normal level for drinking water quality and Ammonia is normal in well waters but more in waadi kaam waters. Alkalinity, Total Hardness, Chlorides, Magnesium, and sodium are more than the normal level for potable. Magnesium level is fit for the usage of water for agriculture purposes. Waadi kaam samples have high in all parameters than the well waters. Regarding seasonal analysis, most of the parameters show high during summer. These water samples require suitable treatments such as filtration, chlorination, alum treatment, aeration, neutralization, softening and chemical precipitation, to minimize contamination and make them fit for drinking. This study increases the awareness among the residents of Kaam area of Libya the quality of well waters and the waters from Waadi Kaam at their highest quality and purity levels and it is hoped that the present study may prove to be an useful tool in understanding the water at the desired levels for different beneficial uses of the people residing there.
