Lagged cities highlight their cultural capital to generate economic effects. This plan can make the lagged city have creative and cultural image. Therefore, it can be meaningful and important to exploring concrete case of the urban regeneration in South Korea. Mullae Creation Community can be the typical example of the plan. Artists in the community metamorphosed this lagged place into creative and artistic place to seek coexistence with residents and steel industry workers. In this way, Mullae creative community has been formed naturally and voluntarily without external actors like governmental organizations. However, as the governmental actors started to support this creative community by providing subsidies therefore, the question of sustainability in the community has been raised. Facebook is one of the online social networking platforms which provides the user with a platform to build social relationship. The user can gather information, share and communicate. This research examines the "how" and "what" of the new media with a focus on the Facebook, using this social media platform to illustrate how plays’ ideas can be generated and adapted. The drive for originality to replace the sluggish concept of playwriting has driven and motivated this research. This research adopts the content examination methodology to scrutinize playwriting in content and form in social media banter, using Reno Omokri’s observation on Big Brother Naija 2018, especially the scene where two housemates publicly had sexual intercourse on international TV. The aim of this research is to let the people know that they can generate original and challenging documents from the social media, as resource materials, which can be adapted into true-life plays with the intention of sensitizing the society on diverse topical issues such as Big Brother Naija. The study identifies that numerous conversations on the social media are lying dormant, depriving the people of the raw and original discourses, which can be easily adapted into plays with moral lessons for the society. With copious examples, this research through the elements of drama adapts Facebook banter on Big Brother Naija 2018 into a play sketch. This research recommends that wannabe playwrights and other theatre practitioners can use Facebook as resource materials for their creativity, generate, and discuss particular subjects with passion and originality artistically. Title: HIV and AIDS Campaigns in Kenya and its Effects on Women Participation Author: Boan Kashup & Eric Farrason Abstract: ... HIV and AIDS is currently a major health, social and economic problem in Kenya. Controlling the problem will largely depend on preventive measures that are based on sound communication, information and education strategies. This paper discusses the influence of socio-cultural factors on communication and women participation in the campaigns against HIV and AIDS among the Nandi of Western Kenya. Among the Nandi as is the case with other communities in Kenya, discussion of sex and sexuality is taboo and cultural practices and expectations hinder effective dissemination of HIV and AIDS messages. Women have low access to HIV and AIDS preventive messages due to attitudes, beliefs and practices that inhibit effective communication between them and the providers of HIV/AIDS information. To meaningfully involve women in the campaigns against HIV/AIDS in Kenya, HIV and AIDS information providers and educators need to design a comprehensive gender responsive communication strategies and programmes that are culturally sensitive. Title: Effects of Families’ Socio-Economic Status on their Feeding Habits in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria Author: Osagie Joseph Egharevba (Ph.D) & Avwemubemu Rose Opute Abstract: ... This study looks at how families socioeconomic status affects their feed habits. It focuses on how poor socioeconomic status affects peoples consumption and how it affects their health in society. A one-time survey method was adopted for this study. The sample size was 475 (M =149 F =326). The findings indicated that family’s socio-economic status, (position, income, wealth, education and type of residency) directly impact their food quality purchase, it determines the quality of nutrient food, even the grocery they visit for shopping; one’s educational background has great influence on their food preference. This study concludes that socioeconomic Status (SES) of families has a significant impact on diet quality. The study recommends among others that government should ensure the head of families are gainfully employed and empowered and raise their standard of living to enable them obtain basic resources and adopt healthy eating habits; nutritious feeding enhances a childs mental and cognitive development. National security should also be improved because agricultural activities have been disrupted due to terrorism, insurgency and the kidnapping of citizens thereby creating food insecurity in Benin City. Human resource information system (HRIS) is not new concept but it is recuperating day by day with changing environment. Its major role is in human resource planning (HRP) which itself a crucial activity in any organization. Ineffective HRP can lead to extra or fewer numbers of employees than needed. Both over and under number of employees can create crappy situations. HRIS helps in proper planning of human resources. This paper focuses on the role of HRIS in HRP. The research is empirical in nature as 127 respondents from top 7 IT companies (as per their market share) are taken to see the sights of the objectives. The survey is done with the assistance of the questionnaire. After investigation it is concluded that HRIS has various benefits but the foremost is HRIS stores ample data about the employees of the organizations that helps in escalating the snail’s pace of HRP. HRIS also helps in the strategic activities of HR managers and more in training and development, succession planning, applicant tracking in recruitment and selection and manpower planning. While analyzing the overall contribution of HRIS in HRP it is concluded that HRIS identifies occupied and unoccupied positions in an organization very effectively and accurately. Title: A Tracer Study of Journalism Graduates of The National Open University of Nigeria: Employability and Corporate Social Integration in The Workplace Author: Chidinma Henrietta Onwubere (PhD), Jonathan Elom Aliede (PhD), Matthew Enenche Ogwuche (PhD) & Abdullateef Mohammed Abstract: ... Open and Distance Learning mode of education, especially at the tertiary level is increasingly becoming the most preferred to conventional university education as the world is transiting very fast to being high tech driven. A fundamental question which Open and Distance Learning, (ODL) seeks to answer is the acceptability of its graduates into the global mainstream. This can be achieved if ODL graduates exhibit the capability and capacity to march their counterparts from conventional universities. Their competence can be measured by employer attestations and through the results of tracer studies. Postgraduate programme in Journalism being practice-based directly exposes students to the field aspects of their study; therefore, a tracer study could objectively evaluate the rate of success of the programme. Also, employers would be afforded the means of assessing the quality of employees engaged. Consequently, this empirical research undertook a tracer study of the entire graduates of the M.Sc. and the PGD Journalism programmes in NOUN between 2015- 2020. The major objective is to examine the employability, competence and acceptability of this category of graduates in the professional and general job market. The theoretical framework adopted two theories that are relevant to the paper – Jesse Delia’s Constructivism Theory and Robert Edward Freeman’s Stakeholder Theory which emphasised that learning is unique to the learner and that the long-term interest of any organisation critically depends on effectively handling stakeholders’ concerns, needs and aspirations. The methodology adopted was mixed method- qualitative and quantitative in the survey design using a triangulation of quantitative and qualitative approaches to achieve higher accuracy and validation of results. Using the Google Form platform, the research instrument was administered to 268 NOUN graduates. However, only 102 of them responded, giving a return rate of 38% of the sample. Similarly, in-depth interviews of employers were conducted using a well-structured interview guide to complement, verify and validate the results of the quantitative data. The statistical analysis was done with the use of the ANOVA statistical tool for variance and Independent Sample t-Test. In the conclusion, the report suggested periodic curriculum reviews to ensure that graduates possess the knowledge and abilities required by the sector. The findings revealed that 174 of the 204 graduates who took part in the Tracer Study were employed (78.53%), and 69.78% indicated their first employment was associated with their degree programme. While, 89.5% of employers attested that they are satisfied with the performance of the NOUN Journalism graduates they employed and that they came with sufficient skills and knowledge. The paper recommended that the NOUN Mass Communication Department should develop or update courses and adopt measures to fill the few current-knowledge gaps observed by employers of NOUN journalism graduates. This will further improve the employability of these graduates, career advancement and sustainability in the general and media job market.
