Title: Bridging of Data from Legacy Software to New Software Using R2R Ingression Author: Sitha Ramulu Abstract: ... Software engineering is a state of art providing enormous solutions to the clients. Software engineering methodologies keeps on changing from day to day. This changing nature of software gave place for development of new languages, technologies, new tools in the software applications and many frame works that gained speed in replacing older systems. Hence, the main objective in presenting the paper defines in “bridging” the older software to the latest version new technology software. This enables data to meet accurate requirements in data mining from the data bases. Methods/Statistical Analysis: In the storage of databases, the relational databases are used utmost for storing data in very large amount which should be with good and high integrated security to safe guard the data semantics. In order to support the objective, we have introduced an R2R Ingression approach – a methodology to bridge old systems to new technology software in RDB and RDF with various mappings and architectural patterns that duly define the bridging process for RDB and RDF. Findings: A clear and contrast elaboration have been extracted between the two distinguished example software’s as presented in our context. We stated the relations of old systems and new systems software’s with the example mappings using R2RI, so that legacy software’s can be easily transparent to the new technology software’s. This kind of bridging is so essential to enhance the usage of old legacy systems at the current latest technologies. A Semi automation tool is apprehended and transformed to a complete automation tool to give additional benefits to the user as well as the administrator. Applications/Improvements: This paper covers the development of a new methodology called R2RI which is an RDB-to-RDF mapping with integration approach that contain architecture and mapping which enables the RDF-based Read/Write access to enrich the various characteristics of RDB. Title: Comparative Analysis of Gender and Age Differences in the Visions of Solitude Author: Aigul Gizatullina, Sholpan Satiyeva & Togzhan Kunslyamova Abstract: ... Consideration of certain aspects of solitude, external and internal causes of its origin, the role of situational factor in the individual context of experience, etc. represents a necessary and methodologically justified stage of research. Methods: We used the methods of theoretical analysis of the psychological phenomenon of solitude study trends thereby building a unique prospect of its integral perception. Theoretical provisions were confirmed by the experimental results obtained during the analysis of the problems of solitude in the general humanitarian aspect in certain groups of population with account of gender, age and social differences. Findings: In total, among all studied age groups of persons with high degree of social isolation, a considerable prevalence of family problems was distinguished in the structure of the leading reasons of solitude for women, whereas job and personal are typical of men, which completely corresponds to the theoretic provisions of the research and results of other works. The main difference in the vision of the solitude causes in the population under study and results obtained in the group of socially isolated persons was the excessive frequency of diseases and personal problems, and relative decrease of job and family problems. The provided data indicate, first and foremost, the existence of a considerable dynamics in a subjective feeling of solitude in the process of human life. Applications: Distinguishing the causes of solitude and their comparative analysis taking into consideration gender, age and social differences are aimed at improving lifestyle attitudes at the individual level and in society as a whole. Just as the term demographics refer to certain physical and social characteristics of people, the term “psychographics” refers to people’s lifestyle characteristics. Psychographics gained popularity among marketers beginning in the late 1960s and became a staple of marketing by the mid-1970s. Marketers realized that the emotional and psychological connections people make with particular brands often arise from how well the brands fit into the lives of consumers. As such, market researchers were presented with the challenge of measuring consumer lifestyles, and the term psychographics was born. Psychographics was never intended to replace demographics as a means of predicting and explaining consumer marketplace behavior. Instead, psychographics supplement demographics by adding the richness of the social and behavioral sciences to standard demographic descriptions of people. Title: Effect of Flooding on Housing Infrastructure in Yenagoa Metropolis, Bayelsa State Author: Mbee, Daniel Mbee & Tamunoiminabo Lawson Abstract: ... Flooding is a geographic phenomenon that poses threat to humanity. In places where flooding has occurred, housing stock is usually depleted. This study, therefore, seeks to investigate the effect of flooding on housing infrastructure in the Yenagoa metropolis. The survey research approach was used in the study and the study population was household heads. A combination of primary and secondary data was used. Simple and stratified random sampling techniques were utilized while the Taro Yamane method was used in the determination of the sample size which came to 400Thereafterer the proportional allocation method was used in distributing the sampled population into the ten strata that the study covered. Copies of the questionnaire were administered to the sampled population but only 329 copies were successfully retrieved. Hence the analysis was based on the responses of respondents using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study has shown that housing infrastructure such as tiles, skirtings and wall rendering with mean values of 2.42, 2.42 and 2.19 respectively are partially damaged due to flooding. The study also shows that the p-value (0.000) is less than the critical level of alpha (0.05) hence there is statistically significant variation in the effect of flooding on housing infrastructure in the different areas that make up the metropolis of Yenagoa. Based on this, the study recommends that water-resistant materials be used during construction to prevent water from penetrating courses in walls and damp-proof membranes in the substructure and water seepage that will weaken the bonding adhesives during flooding. Also, the study recommends that the drying process after a flood is essential as soon as physically possible to prevent additional deterioration of housing infrastructure due to long-term water exposure. Title: Christocentric Leadership Framework as Pattern for Democratic Leadership in Nigeria Author: Amakiri, Metong Eustace Abstract: ... Nigeria is a nation endowed with abundant human and natural resources. Despite this, she has not fared well in political leadership which adversely affects other sectors. Failure of the Nigerian state to advance appropriately is attributed to this negatively skewed leadership pattern with its attendant dysfunctions such as threats of insecurity, abuse of power, squabbles by the ruling class, apathy by the followership, desecration of the rule of law, neglect and utter abuse of the provisions of federal character, among others. There have nonetheless been various suggestions towards correcting this but to no avail. This paper provides the leadership framework of Jesus Christ which he demonstrated in his earthly ministry in theory and practice, as building blocks that would lead to the actualisation of the desire for good governance in Nigeria’s democratic journey. It is posited that challenging the faulty status quo, understanding the mission of leadership, inspiring a new vision, enabling others to act, modelling the way, encouraging the heart, communication and consistency, would give leaders the purpose, passion and power to live and lead, combined with the critical elements of values, creativity, inclusiveness, initiative, change and conflict management. It is submitted that if the framework is understood and applied, the struggle for the satisfaction of the mundane would be less attractive and would in the long run, bring to an end the leadership incubus which the nation presently experiences in her democratic journey. Background/Objectives: During the second half of past decade the Philippines has experienced relatively high-paced growth in tourism sectors. Nevertheless when considering tourism’s realistic concerns, it is regrettable to say that the city of Manila can be regarded as a hotbed. So, the purpose of the study is to explore environmental issues in tourism industry, find a type of tourism development at which the city of Manila in the Philippines has to aim. Methods/Statistical Analysis: To accomplish an aim of this study, econometrics model was applied to analyze the data collected from foreign visitors to Manila. MNL (multinomial logit) model is gradually becoming more widely available for market segmentation in hospitality and tourism fields due to its high availability. Findings: As a result, it is revealed that the majority of foreign visitors want the city to be developed with eco-friendly tourism policy rather than mass tourism. Accordingly, the city of Manila should be focused on seeking appropriate management of environmental impacts, planning more projects related with environment protection, and joining in Eco-Management & Audit Scheme (EMAS) and so forth. The environment has continually affected man adversely in one way or the other and has brought about destruction of lives and properties in the human society. This problem persists in spite of the much effort that is being made by government agents, professionals and scholars to solve environment related problems in our societies. This study explores how Patience Swift represents the effect of the environment on man in The Last Good Man, as a way of addressing the paucity of critical works on the text. Even the few works treated did not discuss the text from the perspective of how environment affects man, but how man affects environment in the human society. The study employs Ecocriticism as the theoretical framework through which it examines the ecological conflicts between man and nature and between man and man. It concludes that the effect of ecological conflict, most often, is more psychological, devastating and catastrophic on man than on the environment. To reduce the effects of ecological conflicts on man, the study recommends that man should recognize his boundaries and responsibilities toward nature and to obey the laws of nature. The study has opened up a vista on ecological issues and enhanced our understanding of how to solve environmentally related problems/challenges in the human society. This study investigates the impact of autocratic management style on employee’s productivity in the manufacturing organizations in Abia and Imo States, Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for the study. With the objectives of the study, hypothesis was formulated in the study. A sample size of 311 was adopted as they constitute the number of respondents drawn from the selected organizations. The simple random sampling and the purposive sampling techniques were applied in the study at difference stages. The summation of all the responses was presented using frequency distribution tables and simple percentages, while the Ordinal Logit Regression (Ologit) Analysis was used to test the hypothesis formulated in the study. The test statistics reveals that, there is a significant relationship between autocratic management style and employee’s productivity in the manufacturing organizations in Abia and Imo States, Nigeria. The study concludes that, the extent to which workers in an organization contribute in harnessing the resources of an organization equally depends on how well the managers in the organizations understand and adopt appropriate management style in performing their roles as managers and leaders. The study recommends among others that, the average human being has inherent dislike for work and will avoid it if he can. Because of inherent dislike for work, management of the selected manufacturing organizations in Abia and Imo States, Nigeria should continue to apply autocratic management style in the workplace but with utmost carefulness and circumspection in order to get the workers put forth adequate efforts towards the attainment of enhanced productivity.
