Title: Investigating the Problems of Managing Zambian State Lands Author: Jishin Caleb (PhD) & Kelvin Jubaka Yuosle Abstract: ... This paper examines the challenges of state land management in Zambia. In particular, the paper examines the status of the elements of state land management which include land use planning, cadastral surveying, land allocation, land registration, and land occupation. Based on primary and secondary data, this paper argues that the current state land management is weak. Land management is characterised by weak land use planning, cadastral surveying, land allocation, land registration and land occupation. These lead to high frequency of conflicts on state land such as invasion of idle or undeveloped private or public land, illegal allocation of land by some politicians and government officials, illegal land acquisition by political cadres, boundary conflicts, double or multiple allocations of land, eviction by private landlords, and eviction by government agencies. Subsequently, the high incidence of conflicts on state land leads to a high degree of tenure insecurity. In light of the foregoing, the paper provides recommendations on how the management of state land can be improved so as to minimize conflicts on state land, to enhance tenure security. Title: Effect of Epileptic People in Primary School Participation in Me’enit Goldia Woreda Bench Maji Zone of Ethiopia Author: Kalos Mukiru (PhD) & Keshi Sandari Abstract: ... This study has been undertaken to explore the influencing factors that limit the primary school participation of epileptic communities in Me’enit people who live in Me’enit Goldia wereda at Bench Maji zone administration. The target people in the study area are facing extreme form of discrimination and live in a severe poverty and illness. They feel hope less and not seeking for their rights get respected. Majority of them are excluded from all forms of social activities. They all are illiterates and live in a poor and severely affected health condition that resulted mainly from burn injury and fractures. Furthermore, the study employed qualitative research method to collect and analyze primary data from the target people. Accordingly, the sample respondents were selected from people affected by epilepsy, from primary school management bodies (school directors, PTAs, KETB members and Wereda education supervisors), from Government officials, NGOs and Civic society members and from Religious leaders, Elders and prominent members of the community for interview and focus groups discussions. Few of the PWE in the target area were pulled together and settled by Ethiopian Red Cross Society and Mizan Aman town administration to the village called “Bala” though many of them still are living in different towns suffering from severe social marginalization and economic deprivation. According to the results obtained from the study, majority of the people living with epilepsy were found illiterate and didn‟t go to school. The ones who managed to go to school were not able to resist the stigma and discrimination and had forced to withdrew and remained illiterate. Moreover, the study has sought the factors that had greatly influenced their participation in primary education. In view of that, the social factors, economic factors, cultural factors and psychological factors were the subjects of the study. Finally it has been learned that epileptic people in the study area were highly affected by all of the factors stated above and that led them to severe poverty and instability. In this paper, human being is considered as the center instead of the State. The term of “Humanity” has been dealt with. The definition of the humanity has been given. The first social units of human life were also be dealt with. A balance has been established between the local administrations and the central government, which is starting with the local level “township”. A model has been proposed for the construction of townships, which are the smallest administrative units that should be included in the constitutional texts and which are important for the efficiency of democracy. Small administrative units composed of individuals take their own decisions within their limits. They make their own legislation. In this case, only then, a real and effective democracy can be mentioned. Providing the hierarchic services for humanity are necessary. Thus, while democratization is achieved with freedom in small units, the services that the center brings to human beings and humanity cannot be neglected. Title: Community Male-Circumcision Programmes (CMCPs) and its Impact on the Psychological Behaviour of Boys in Nyandarua-Kenya Public Secondary Schools Author: Laina Naribu Abstract: ... Teachings during circumcision arguably contribute to delinquent and anti-social behaviour among boys in Nyandarua County. The aim of this study was to examine influence of cognitive domain on boys’ self-esteem in public mixed-day secondary schools. The study was grounded on psycho-education, behaviour modification and rational choice theories. It employed mixed method, concurrent triangulation design. Target population was 1,242 boys, with a sample of 144 participants comprising; boys, teachers, counsellors, psycho-educational service providers and parents. Random, purposive and proportional sampling procedures were used. Research instruments included; questionnaires, interview schedules and focus group discussion guides. Item content validity was applied for enhancing validity while piloting of tools was used to assure for reliability (rs = .622) through split-half testing. Credibility and dependability of instruments was assured through feedback during discussions and data triangulation from different sources. Data management included sorting, coding and keying before analysis with computer application SPSS v23. Pearson r, the paired samples t-test, and regression analysis (R) sufficed for data analysis. The study used null hypotheses, tested at α = .05.Results indicated that cognitive domain was related to boys’ self-esteem (p = .028).It was also found out that it was a suitable predictor of self-esteem in boys (R2=.512). The study further indicated that self-esteem of boys circumcised in CMCPs was not any different from that of boys initiated elsewhere[t (25) = .01, p = .51, α = .993]. The study recommended that M.O.E and M.O.H. play critical role in design of common curricula to be used as guide during instruction in CMCPs. It also recommended that cognitive instruction be restructured and expanded to schools, so that all adolescents benefited from professional behaviour management skills, in order to stem indiscipline and other anti-social behaviour. Title: Parental Roles as Correlates of Moral Development in Preschoolers in Early Childhood Centers in Rivers State Author: Ejekwu, Princewill Okechukwu (Ph.D) & Ruth Kpeh Benebo Abstract: ... This study examines the link between parental role and moral development of preschoolers in early childhood centers in the study area. The research design which was used in this study was co-relational. This study was led by two research questions and two null hypotheses. The population of the study was 10,960 parents, 204 parents were sampled for the study. The instrument for data collection was the researcher designed Parental Role and the Moral Development of Preschoolers Questionnaire. Data was analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation coefficient (PPMCC). The findings of the study revealed that: there is a substantial link between parental modelling and the moral development of preschoolers in early childhood centres; there is a substantial link between parental discipline and the moral development of preschoolers in early childhood centres. In view of the findings of this study, recommendations were made which include that Parents should ensure they model the right behaviour and speech so that their children do not pick the wrong behaviour and exhibit same outside. Since media, having its different forms like TV, radio, newspaper, internet and nowadays social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. have so much of impact on public that they tend to believe each and everything they get through it. We cannot deny the fact that the media is the fourth pillar of the democratic world and its key factors are transparency and honesty; still, it is impossible to conjecture that media is made up of completely unbiased information and that the media companies do not impose their own control upon the information being supplied to media users. It is the media which has figured every man with long beard is a terrorist. In the contemporary world where Muslims are misunderstood as a terrorist and Islam as the religion of producing such fundamentalists, media is the only tool which can be used to enlighten the truth about Islam and Muslims. It is the duty of media to show both the sides of a coin but unfortunately some of the media sectors are misusing the power and trying to destroy the real identity of Islam. This paper x-rays affective learning as measure to attaining peace and security in the society. It stresses that the main purpose of the school is to train the character of individuals, and that character development is vital to the well-being of any society/nation. For the character of individuals in the society to be developed, learning in the affective domain has to be emphasized. Gender issues within the police organization, personnel structure and police culture have only recently become the subject of detailed academic research. Despite numerous analyses that deal with issues of organizational culture within the institutions of the security sector, there are still relatively few cross-cultural studies that deal with issues of equal opportunity, position, role, perspective, and barriers to the integration of women police officers. This work aims to help in getting better perspective of the current situation, i.e. a gender perspective within the police organization in Serbia, taking into account the current situation and opportunities provided to women working in the police. The paper also interprets official records of the appropriate authorities concerning the status of women within the territorial distribution and line police work. The central topic of this analysis is related to the equal opportunities policy, issues of discrimination, and harassment cases. In a hypothetical basis it starts from the conceptual definition of the term police culture, and objective and subjective obstacles to the integration of a gender perspective within the police system. By creating a powerful personal brand, women can increase their visibility, attract new clients and opportunities, and position themselves as thought leaders in their fields of endeavour. However, developing a personal brand can be a daunting task, particularly for women who may be juggling multiple responsibilities. This paper explores the importance of personal-branding for female professionals in the 21st century and offers recommendations and strategies for building a powerful personal brand that can help women achieve their career goals. Through a review of relevant literature, this paper highlights the importance of personal-branding for female Nigerian professionals and explores the strategies they can use to create and promote a strong personal brand. The findings of this study suggest that personal-branding can help female Nigerian professionals overcome gender-based stereotypes and biases, establish their credibility, and build a professional network that can support their career growth.
