Title: Investigating Adult Students’ Views on Evening Vocational High Schools and in Evening General High Schools Author: Yalki Tilka (Ph.D) & Jimecha Koillia Abstract: ... The purpose of this research is to investigate adult students’ views in Evening Vocational High Schools and in Evening General High Schools, regarding the learning process, the quality of relationship between teachers and adult students and the interaction between the adult students. The research collected quantitative data via questionnaire. The sample consisted of 90 adult learners from 4 high schools of the Greek region Αchaia. The results showed that the vast majority of adult students agree that the climate among classmates is friendly and cooperative. They also tend to agree that the coexistence of different ages in a classroom is creative. Moreover, a large portion of the students states that teachers use participatory techniques in the learning process and treat them as equals. However, they would wish to see more interactive methods of teaching that would encourage active participation and collaboration in groups. These goals can be achieved by organizing training seminars to improve their teachers’ communication skills and their educational methodology and techniques. Available data projects a weak and fluctuating economic growth over the years in comparism with the Asian continent that has similar history. In this paper we chronicle the paradox of weak economic performance in Africa with hindsight on history, theory and the challenges of economic growth and development in Africa, modest effort is also made to highlight the policy initiative of Singapore, China and India as case study to fast-track the pace of economic growth and prosperity in Africa. Title: Imposing Mortgage Law for Protection and Legal Right for the Creditor Author: Dagid Dryan Abstract: ... The result of this research concludes that the result of the research shows that the legal result of not registering the Deed of Mortgage Rights (APHT) to the credit agreement made by the parties before the Notary / Land Titles Registrar (PPAT) is the creditor having no priority position. Where the form of legal protection that can be given to Creditors as a form of anticipation is not registered APHT is by the signing of the deed of power sell at the time of the credit agreement. The creditors right to the guaranteed item in the case of APHT is not registered i.e. not giving the right to each other over the other creditor. The purpose of the imposition of Mortgage right is in order to provide protection and legal certainty to all parties (especially Creditor) as well as to fulfill the principle of publicity. The grant of this right is intended to provide the preferred position to the creditor concerned (preferred creditors) other than the creditors. As collateral for repayment of Debtors debt to the Creditor in connection with the loan/credit agreement concerned. Deposit Rights will not be born without the registration of APHT. But in practice, there is still some unscrupulous PPAT register APHT to the Land Office for various reasons off course, this will harm the creditors as a lender. Shared Heart Accompaniment Programme of Education (SHAPE), is an holistic formation plan for undergraduate students in Sacred Heart College. The Salesian System of Education has a unique way of mentoring the young by providing them with profound guidance and direction. In this unique practice every mentor tries to lead their mentees in taking responsibility for their actions andin becoming good citizens of the Nation. The present research was undertaken to study the effectiveness of the programme “SHAPE” as one of the best practices of Sacred Heart College. The study was extended to the second year undergraduate students. The random sampling technique was adopted and 50% of the total population of 1032 students were taken for the study. A scale was developed and the reliability of the instrument was found to be .799 Cronbachs Alpha. From the presented research it was revealed that the programme has catered in making a difference in majority of the students whereby providing them proper academic guidance, enabling them to develop their personality and in making them confident individuals to solve their day to day problems. Women cooperative (Kopwan) which is a cooperative run and consisted of women, has demonstrated its ability to be competitive in providing good service to its members. Women are no longer just a housewife but cooperative has proved its superiority to empower women as a pioneer in helping small business in the region. The purpose of this research i.e.: (1) analyze the role of Kopwan on the welfare of its members; (2) analyze the Kopwan development strategy; and (3) analyze the potential growth of Kopwan in the future. The research was conducted by survey method. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that Kopwan instrumental in improving the welfare of members and their families. The women members of Kopwan feel helpless and can contribute more than its position as a housewife. Grand strategy for the development of Kopwan in Gianyar Regency is growth and build strategy. Although inclusive education has been recommended for implementation in Kenyan schools, attitudes are threatening to add another impediment to the development and success. The purpose of the study was to explore the influence of socio-cultural factors on inclusive education among students & teachers in integrated educational programmes in Kenya. This study adopted cross-sectional survey design. The study employed a descriptive survey design. The study was carried out in two integrated primary schools in Nairobi with a population of 887.Comprising Ministry of Education officials, (MoE), head teachers, class teachers and learners. The sampling procedure employed comprised purposive sampling for all the participants. The sample size consisted of two MoE, two head teachers, seven class teachers, 12 learners with VI and 40 sighted learners. Data was collected through the use of two instruments namely questionnaires and interview guide. For reliability purpose, the researcher used split half techniques of assessing reliability. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows. The findings of this study indicated that head teachers and MoE officials view inclusive education as a good idea. However, most parents are not concerned with integration and are marginally involved. Majority of the teachers were of the view that the training they got did not prepare them adequately to meet the educational needs of learners. Since the birth of the idea of AFRICOM in early 2007, Africa’s reaction to AFRICOM was largely negative; there was variation in types of responses. Some leaders in sub-regions and states feared terrorist attacks against an AFRICOM bas that would undermine their regimes. Others feared the possibility of a regime change. Sub-regional powers objected to U.S. military presence in their area of hegemonic control. The non-aligned states rejected AFRICOM while more liberal and Pro-Western states accepted it. This paper attempts to discuss the plethora of issues regarding the convergent and divergent views surrounding president George W. Bush intentions to establish U.S. AFRICOM on African continent. The paper is of the view that despite U.S. denial of China’s rising influence in the continent, the U.S. is at the center of AFRICOM for a purpose, particularly to contain Chinese influence. This paper adopts descriptive and analytical method of historical research. The paper argues that any partnership from any quarters on security in Africa should be border on military intelligence, high tech weapons and technological development to the African Union with mission scenarios to address African security concerns. The paper further suggests that any collaboration or partnership entered by African states should be without strings or disregard to African states sovereignty. Title: Analyzing the Motivation Level of EFL Teachers using Kuwaiti College as Case Study Author: Khanam J. Yapot & Jakper O. Manek Abstract: ... Studies on factors that motivate language learners are extensive. They have looked at motivation from different perspectives such as teachers being motivators, curriculum, teaching context and the facilities available. However, it would also be interesting to know what the demotivating factors are, if any, not for EFL learners but for EFL instructors. The following study attempted to investigate the reasons behind the demotivation of language teachers in the College of Basic Education in Kuwait. The researchers designed a questionnaire, adapted from Warrington (2003), to be pilot tested, first, then distributed to approximately 46 teachers from the English Department and the English Language Unit from different ages, years in CBE and social status. The questionnaire aimed at covering all the aspects shown in the research questions below. In addition to the questionnaire, random individual interviews were conducted to report directly on the teachers’ beliefs and needs as academics and higher education instructors, which also reflected on the research questions. Karl (1995) in Patrick (2008) observed that even before the concept was made popular, women have been seeking to gain control over their lives and to participate in decision making processes in their community and state. Education is the key to unlocking the potentials of all individuals’ communities and societies. Education is seen as light and illiteracy as darkness. Women should be empowered adequately, educationally in other to bridge the existing gap. We should not lose sight of the important roles that women play in the society as nations’ builders. Empowerment is the ability to attain development for economic performance. Women empowerment is the placement of power on the female gender to exercise and maximize her God’s given potential and resources in order for her to contribute positively to the development of her society. The writer recommends that government should provide scholarship for the girl-child education in other to empower more women in our society and enhance our socio-economic growth as a country among others.
